had to travel via Porto, and I'm here with a Camino pilgrim from Brazil, so communication is no problem. So far we have been to 2 wine cellars as well as meals at McDonald's.
I was in Oporto in 1993. I met up with a friends who was driving a VW Camper around Europe. We drove from Oporto along the side of the Douro almost to Spain and then back down the other side.
There is a Camino Portugese which starts from Lisbon and goes along the coast, including Porto, on the way to Santiago. It is another pilgrimage route, but would also be a magnificent tourist experience. I met an Australian near Finisterre who was cycling around Europe for 9 months and was on his way down the coast of Portugal. He said he had to take a few days off for work- he is a web designer for customers in Australia. That is real telecommuting!!
