Along the Hudson

Traveling by train along the banks of the Hudson River from New York to Joe's home town of Albany.
There are national parks, villages and even commercial river barges.

  1. I cannot tell from your uploaded photograph if the foreshore to the Hudson River is sand, a mud-flat or concrete. To quote a former parliamentarian who has been in the news again lately, "please explain". Chris.

  2. Did you happen to travel thru Brielle. New Jersey, on the way to Albany? Mum's cousin lives there. Will ring her tomorrow after hearing about the disasterous fire on the boardwalk in New Jersey. Lst time I spoke to her all her neighbours were still reeeling from the effects of cyclone Sandy. Elaine

  3. Can I interest you in the Handa Opera on the Harbour 'Madame Butterfly' on a Saturday night in March at 7.30pm? The C reserve seats (they are in section C row Z - which is better than the D section ones in rows AA-ZZ)cost $116 each in total. I think we were in section C but in about row H for La Taviata in March 2012. Elaine

  4. It's good that you're enjoying yourself so much that you've been too busy to blog for the last few days. That's the way it should be!!!! FYI, American composer Ferde Grofe (of Grand Canyon Suite fame), composed an orchestral piece known as the Hudson River Suite. Maybe you should buy a cheap copy of the Hudson River Suite (on Naxos) as a souvenir of your journey.
