I just had dinner at the alberge where I'm staying tonight and met Fr Frank Latzko from Chicago. He is doing the Camino and has started a blog to record his progress. He told me the people in his parish have made a map on the wall and move a photo of him along the map as he progresses.
At the moment we are in sync on the Camino, it would be good if we arrived at the same time in Santiago.

I'll add Fr Frank's blog to my reader. The food looks really good. I tried some pilgrim menus in San Giovanni Rotondo last year and they weren't great. Something described as salad turned out to be a small bowl of iceberg lettuce with a bit of dressing on it. I suppose if people are walking 20km they need a decent feed!
ReplyDeleteDag Paul, is het vandaag jou verjaardag ? Vier het met een smakelijk pelgrimsgerecht: pasta con carne y vino tinto. Al proficiat met je eerste stapdagen en vele foto's. Geniet van elk moment. Bart

ReplyDeleteAre you recording somewhere how many hours you're walking each day? How are you finding it all -easier of harder than expected? - glad you did all that training? Looked at Father Frank's blog too. Beautiful scenery in your photo looking back from Orison to St Paul. Which village is your next stop? Those pilgrim meals look very gearty!! Trust you had a very memorable birthday! Elaine
The pilgrim meals look very hearty - not gearty! It appears you won't go hungry. Elaine
ReplyDeleteJust looked at images of Zubiri via Google- looked quaint and lovely. Did you know the word Zubiri means 'village of the bridge' in Basque?? Elaine
