The Tower

I once worked in this building for 4 years. It has since been converted to other uses.
The shop on the right was called the "Bell Inn" in those days and was used for after work drinks and celebrations. I have drunk a beer or three there myself. Now it is a laundromat and is for sale!

  2. Read all of Joe's interesting blog - what great photos and great descriptions /memories of the journey for you too. In one photo in particular you looked as tho you've lost a lot of weight - not surprising with all that walking - altho maybe there has been many a tempting, mouth-watering Belgian cake (or a meal of mussels and chips) consumed in recent days, washed down by some Belgian beer perhaps!!!!! Hope the trip homeward bound is a good one. Looking forward to catching up and eventually seeing even more of the photos! Thank you to you and Bart for all the family history searching you did for Rob and myself in Alsace over the last few days. After knowing so little about our Grandfather's early life and family we now know so much thanks to the two of you! And's it's very special to have the photo of our great-grandfather's house where my grandfather was no doubt born in 1888 and to finally know where the grave of our great-grandparents is! Elaine
