My French teachers were Messrs Shallot and Madden. Do you remember them at all? I remember "Rex" King wearing his Richmond Tigers scarf at the school, and he also co-ordinated my sodality, but I have no recollection of Emmet there even though he was on the staff. I never had the pleasure of experiencing Emmet's teaching, My only brush with Emmet's fame was when I was giving a spiel for promoting the Barnies at the Vigil Mass at St Mary's. I know Paul M., a regular there, had a high regard for Emmet's homilies. Fittingly, I hear that Emmet's obituary was given by an Abbott, who once had ambitions to be an abbot.
