Trams

This is one of the new trams in Bordeaux. They are very convenient and are very heavily used.

Note the absence of overhead power wires. I can't remember, does the tram in Darling Harbour have overhead wires? What are they planning for the new tram through the centre of Sydney?
(PS I am in a mcDonald's here and they just started playing a Johnny Farnham record. It must be his farewell tour.)

  1. The trouble with Johnny Farnham is that his farewell tours fare so well that he ends up having another farewell tour later on. My guess is this is not your farewell tour of the Camino.

  2. What a smart looking tram! No, the Darling Harbour tram does not have overhead wires either. No doubt they still have the monorail carriages that they stupidly took down - they look very much like this - and could be reused as trams on the city streets perhaps without too much modification!

  3. Very sleek. It looks like a train but with track you can drive over. They'd be great for Sydney.

    1. Yes, there are places where cars drive over the tracks with no apparent difficulty.
Also, the trams are so low that the "platform" is no higher than a normal Kerb or gutter on a road. It couldn't be easier for the passengers to get in and out of.
