Map of progress

There is a good map of my location on a friend's blog, if you are interested:

Thank you for that, Tonia, how do you edit the arrow on the map?

  1. According to the location on your blog post today you've gone backwards. It had you in Castrojeriz yesterday so you'll have to keep saying where you are!

  2. Just looked up the French route from St Jean yet again and found the Wikepedia site giving distances between major towns. It says the total distance from St jean to Santiago is 769km - so with Tonia's 440km or so to go -it means you are more than half way!!! Congratulations! Mind you, as Tonia mentioned - it says that you pass through Tardajos on the way to Castrojeriz - not afterwards!!! Hope you headed off in the right direction this morning!!! How many hours each day are you actually walking to cover the 22km or so. I wouldn't have a clue how long that takes. Loved the photo on Father Frank's blog of the pilgrim and backpack in their rain gear! Is that Fr Frank himself? Elaine

  3. My maths is a bit up the pole I realised as soon as I clicked publish!!! Of course half of 769 is 384.5 so you are not yet halfway - but you're not far off with approx 2 days walking to go! Acc to Wikipedia's list of towns you'll reach that point somewhere between Carrion de los Condes and Sabagoin which is a 39km walk that they suggest can be done in one day!!!! In fact they suggested a few 38-40km walks in a day! Hope those days are on the flat!!! Elaine

  4. Yes, that's FrFrank on the backpack.
At home, without a backpack I was doing 5km per hour. Here it is more like 4 if the road is flat, but it can be a lot less if it is muddy or there are hills.

  5. I must admit I'm planning some cheating. I have a school friend traveling in Portugal and Spain and we have arranged to meet in Leon on Ssturday. I'll take the bus tomorrow because it might be hard to find a bus on the weekend.
